      u have to put it on dfu mode and then restore it and if that does not work then u have to hack it so it can turn on again if that does not work then go to a local phone place they will fix it that happend to mines the guy in the store tould me that he restored it but the apple sing was stuck so then i hacked it my self and it turned back on

    Used absinthe 2.04 to jailbreak a iphone 4s and it worked within a few minutes.
    Used same absinthe 2.04 on ipad 1 (5.1.1_9B206) and it just does not want to jailbreak.
    Get this upon completion:
    “recovery completed if you want to retry jailbreaking…..”

    Anyone know what’s up, please.

      to jailbreak 6.0.1 you need to download 6.0 and not 6.0.1 because redsn0w is not updated yet. your phone will stay on 6.0.1 but it uses the 6.0 IPSW to jailbreak 6.0.1, i know it is dumb

      only if you saved your SHSH blobs with tiny umbrella for iOS 5.1.1 before you upgraded. If not you are out of luck and stuck on 6.0.1

      1. First you must get tiny umbrella free software and it will get your SHSH blobs for iOS 5.0.1, 5.1, 5.1.1.
      2. Download iOS 5.1.1 from here for your ipad 2
      3. Download and Open redsn0w as administrator
      6. In redsn0w go to Extras>Even More>Restore>IPSW and select the IPSW you downloaded (5.1.1) and then select “local blobs” and search for the iOS 5.1.1 Blobs wherever you saved them.
      7. Restore to iOS 5.1.1.

      If using itunes:
      1. Open redsn0w as administrator
      2. in redsn0w select >Extras>SHSH blobs>Stitch.
      3. Find your iOS 5.1.1 IPSW you downloaded and find your SHSH blobs for iOS 5.1.1.
      4. Stitch together the IPSW with the Blobs.
      5. open up itunes.
      6. hold shift and click on restore with your iPad plugged in.
      7. Find the stitched IPSW and use it to restore

      If you get the 3194:
      Before you apply the recommendations make sure you have(correct date, time and timezone / logged on as admin / latest version of iTunes installed / latest operating system updates installed / latest router and modem firmware installed / correct proxy settings / latest security software installed / security software correctly configured / and so forth), it may save you a good deal of time and effort to quickly check your hosts file to ensure that it does not contain any entries that will point iTunes to a server other than gs.apple.com.

      On Windows, the hosts file can be found here: C:\Windows\System32\ drivers\etc\hosts.
      On OSX, the hosts file can be found here: /private/etc/hosts.

      A standard Windows hosts file should look something like this -

      # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
      #
      # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
      #
      # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
      # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should

      # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
      # lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.

      127.0.0.1 localhost

      If you have any lines that point to gs.apple.com, backup the hosts file and delete the lines (using a standard editor such as Notepad). You may need to ensure that you have admin privileges. Reboot and try the iTunes upgrade again.

      3G can only be upgraded to 4.2.1. To use a newer iOS you’ll have to get a newer phone I’m afraid. I have a 3G as well.

      change from .zip to .ipsw
      to do this:
      go to control pannel -> folder options -> view -> uncheck hide exptensions from known file types.
      Then you can change it safely.

    I downloaded firmware 4.3.3 for the iphone 3G. because this is the only site that has given this firmware, and I am trying to donwload whatsapp software. But when i try to install this software into my phone,(but shift + restore button in itunes) I am getting error saying that Iphone couldnt be restore beacause firmware is not compatible.     Downloaded the iPhone 5 6.1 update for CDMA from here and got this version iPhone5,1_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw. When I tried to restore it iTunes said it was incompatible. Downloaded the iPhone 5 CDMA version from iTunes and received this version iPhone5,2_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw.

    What is the difference between iPhone5,1_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw & iPhone5,2_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw?
