Apple Will introduce Nano Sims in iPhone 5 To Prevent Unlocking Solutions

Apple Will introduce Nano Sims in iPhone 5 To Prevent Unlocking Solutions – iPhone 4 was the most amazing iPhone which got a completely redesigned body with elegant looks. However, it was the first Mobile phone in the world which features the Micro SIM technology. But now it looks like that Apple will move from Micro SIM card to Nano SIM card technology. This rumor came out with the news that many European carriers have started the stocking Nano SIM cards to be used in the next gen iPhone.

Why Apple will introduce Nano SIM cards in the next gen iPhone? There are two basic reasons behind this idea. One is the thickness of the iPhone, because Nano SIM card has smaller foot prints which will help in the manufacturing of a thinner iPhone.

The other main reason behind this idea is that Apple is trying to prevent the unlocking of iPhones via Gevey SIM and the other unlocking Sims. Currently, the Gevey Ultra Scan unlock iPhone 4 and 4S running any iOS version on any baseband except baseband 4.12.01 and 4.11.08.

A famous Weblog BGR has also posted that Apple is supplying its partner carriers with the Nano SIM card to check in the standard test device. This is what they posted on their website:

Multiple carrier sources have exclusively told BGR that Apple is supplying nano SIM adapters so its carrier partners can test how Nano SIMs work on their networks in standard test devices before they are widely deployed when the new iPhone is introduced.

This includes AT&T.

If these rumors are true, than the next-gen iPhone will be probably the first smartphone which will have the Nano SIM card. What do you think? Do you want to have Nano SIM Card in your next-gen iPhone? Let us know in the comments section below.

For those of us workng in countries where providers will not issue nano sims (we don’t even have micro sims being issued yet)will be screwed unless there is a sim cutter made available. From my research, a sim cutter wouldn’t work since the new nano is thinner. Cant fit a thicker nano into the new iPhone..guess my iPhone upgrading days are coming to an end real soon.

Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One XL are looking more attractive as an alternative to iPhone right now. Gee, I bought iPhones for my entire family, Ipads, and run Mac. Now I have to jump ship to Android. Thx Apple!

You are clearly trolling, you sound like a 15 year old trying to sound like a successful family man.
Just because a new iPhone is released, it doesn’t make the previous iPhones illegal, meaning you have to run out a buy an alternative. Nothing bad will happen.

Its only going to be a matter of time before the new gevey sims will be based on the nano format. Apple know this and so all this is going to do is slow down the process of unlocking the iphone before a new solution is found.

When the microsim was introduced, i literally got a microsim and worked out the dimensions, then cut up my original full size sim down to the same dimensions using a pair of scissors and the job was done.

There are ways round everything and this is no solution to stop the new generation iPhones from being unlocked.

Apple is trying to reduce the space available for you to sandwich in a third party unlocking solution. They are also making it difficult for folks who travel internationally and SIM swap. In all likelihood, it will be a while before you can sandwich the unlocking solution into the phone. At minimum this means we will have a ribbon cable, a sim extender and an external solution.

Hey cool.. Let’s take a world phone and render it useless once again! I was really hoping apple was going to take the nexus route and make all the new iPhones unlocked. I’m done with apple we need the freedom to use these phones anywhere anytime with any sim!

  6. Tim says:

Why does Apple care just sell your phone let the phone company worry about this unlocking in my opinion. This is backwards for Apple to sell phones and the change the charger port they should of made it micro usb and make everyone happy. Apple stop nickel and dime your already the most profitable company. if you would of done these changes you would of killed Android and many other phone company’s. Instead you go after your fans not smart.

  7. Steve says:

There are Nano Sim card cutters already on ebay – just purchased one myself. I think the thickness wont be a problem and they will fit in with a push. If not I will file with sandpaper until it fits.

  8. Pech says:

  9. Pech says:
