Auxo Multitasking Tweak Gets iOS 5.1.x Support

Auxo Multitasking Tweak Gets iOS 5.1.x Support – iOS’s traditional way to multitask by double-tapping the home button has been around for a long time and the lack of innovation or any change in it has made it quite boring. Compared to the cool way Android handles multitasking, Apple’s technique seems to be a glimpse from the past. Just a few days ago, one iOS user decided to create a concept that added a touch of detail and elegance and soon after, that concept caught the eye of some developers, finally leading to the development of Auxo jailbreak tweak. Up until now, it was only available for iOS 6 users but now, users of iOS 5.1 can also have a taste of the awesome multitasking in Auxo.

For those who aren’t aware of the capabilities of Auxo, it is a nifty little jailbreak tweak that enhances Apple’s app-switching system and replaces the little app icons by larger live screens of the currently-running apps on your phone. It is really suited to the larger screen of your iPhone 5 or an iPad and fully utilizes the extra real estate. In addition to that, you also have the luxury to close apps by a single swipe down. We really have to thank Kyle Howells, a member of the dev team behind Auxo, who was largely responsible for making Auxo compatible with iOS 5.1 running devices.

Another thing that is great about this is that the new version of this tweak adds a couple of bug fixes and performance improvements as well, making it a much better experience.

Note that this new update only adds support for iOS 5.1 and won’t run on iOS 5 or even iOS 5.0.1.

Auxo is available in Cydia’s BigBoss repo for $1.99.

Auxo has not been released for the iPad yet. While you can install it on an iPad, it doesn’t work well. The developers have indicated the the iPad version will be available in early 2013.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
