Downgrade baseband 6.15.00 iPhone 3GS – 3G in Progress

Downgrade baseband 6.15.00 iPhone 3GS – 3G in progress - For users who rely the unlock on 6.15.00 baseband will be glad to know that MuscleNerd, iPhone hacker of the iPhone Dev Team, has just announced via his twitter that he has made great progress on the 3G/3GS 6.15.00 baseband downgrade.

Downgrade baseband 6.15.00 iPhone 3GS - 3G

MuscleNerd: Made great progress yesterday on downgrade from BB 06.15 (for 3G/3GS owners who got officially unlocked). All the pieces are there :)

By this great progress 6.15.00 baseband users will be able to downgrade to 5.13,04 baseband which will allow for both an unlock via ultrasn0w and GPS working

Locked iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users tend to update to BB 6.15.00 as their original basebands is 5.14.02 and 5.15.04 are not lockable but unfortunately users doesn’t know the risks that affects their devices due to 6.15.00 baseband update for who don’t know the risks can check below

Downgrade baseband 6.15.00 iPhone 3GS – 3G risks:

  1. If you update your device to baseband 6.15.00, you will not be able to restore using the original firmware. That means you will face an iTunes error message if you try to restore it directly from there. You can only do it via a custom or ‘cooked’ firmware created with redsn0w or other tools.
  2. There is no software downgrade available once your baseband has been upgraded to 6.15.00. However.
  3. GPS will not work properly or in may not work seriously on your iPhone due to this baseband although a fix is said to be on the horizon.
  4. You will void any Apple warranties as they can easily detect this baseband if you bring it in for service.
  5. The resale value of your iPhone may be lesser due to the above, that’s if you intend to sell it at one point. Otherwise, this is not really an issue.
  6. At the end you will stuck -on the 6.15.00 baseband forever :(

We recommend all users not to update to baseband 6.15.00 if you decided to carry out this method you will do it on your own risks but after the great progress of MuscleNerd you will be able to downgrade soon stay tuned on our Twitter and Facebook

you can update use tiny umbrella

start up tiny umbrella click on start tts server then start itunes hold shift and press restore choose the firmware you want on the phone ( I have 4.1 i think its best for my device ) when its done you will get the error 1015 this is because you have changed your base band…..close itunes and go back to tiny umbrella and click on exit recovery the iphone should start after a few mins and work ok…then jailbreak good luck

    Hello,Wat abt the baseband 5.16.05?

    • Sbk says:

I guess first upgrade to 6.15.00, and then use the upcoming downgrader to 5.13.04.
Or maybe the downgrader will be able to downgrade any higher version. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  5. mikolaj says:

Yeah!! That`s grat news! I cant wait for this :D

Is there any fix for unlock issue with BB 5.16.05 on the horizon? I have a 3GS which I upgraded to iOS 5.1.1 last week (9th June 2012) which also updated BB to 5.16.05. I upgraded because the iOS that I had in my phone – 4.3.5 – only had tethered jailbreak and I wanted an untethered jailbreak. What I didn’t know was that the upgrade while giving me a untethered jailbreak via redsn0w 0.9.12b1 will not allow unlock. Now I am stuck with a newest version of iOS with no tools to unlock.

    • toxic says:

Update to the 06.15 BB, downgrade the BB when MuscleNerd releases the tool, then upgrade to 5.1.1 while preserving the unlockable baseband, then jailbreak and unlock… done!

      • toxic says:

of course this doesn’t work with the new 3gs models… sorry

        • Namit says:

My 3GS manufacture is 2010 week 19. so what you are saying is that I first upgrade to baseband 6.15.00. Then using MN’s tool I downgrade to 5.13.04. But if the downgraded version is unlockable, I am back at square one.

So this coming solution works only on phones without simlocks? My phone is still blocked in Apple base.

How about the people with 3gs unit made from week 28 of 2011 to present. updating to 6.15 baseband will crash its baseband chip, we’ll waiting for the unlock of it.

I read your post but i am in the middle of nowhere right now.
I downgraded my iphone 3G from 4.2.1 to 3.1.3 with the same baseband 6.15, it’s locked right now. I’m trying to unlock it with
rep666.ultrasn0w.com source via Cydia but it gives me the following errors:

    http://ispaziorepository.com
    HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

    Error:Refreshing Data
    faied to fetch
Http://repo.smxy.org/cydia/apt/dists/xena/Release.gpg NetDB: Open Nodename or sername provided, or not known

    Please help!

    Hello -
I’ve a iPhone 3GS (made before 28th wk of 2011) that I had jailbroken and unlock using iOS 4.1/BB 06.15. With the official unlock from AT&T, I just updated to the latest iOS (via iTunes) but now can’t activate it. How do I find what baseband I have currently and how do I get this working again? Looking forward for input. Appreciate your help !!! Thanks

    • Mo says:

I have the same problem my phone can’t not be activated.i jailbreak it but now my sim card not recognize and my iccid say no sim .

      • KenShiN says:

What I did with mine was jailbreaking it with redsn0w. By default it has the option “deactivate” unchecked so you could just leave it there and let redsn0w do the rest. That should activate your iphone and would let you have the option to navigate on your iphone and get the info you need

So when is approximate time when this downgrade software will be available. We all have been waiting since 2010. I am asking on behalf of all 3Gs 06.15 baseband prisoners. I am not asking exact date but maybe just the time period? 3 weeks? 2 months? 2 years? I mean really, I had my 3Gs sitting around because I cant use it without GPS and don’t want to sell it like this to make it somebodys problem…..I appreciate any approximation of time

  13. Ravi says:

Is it going to be helpful for those who have bricked their IPhone 3GS(newer NOR chip) by flashing to Ipad baseband?

  14. KJ says:

Thank god… I can finally downgrade and possibly sell my phone.

I don’t even know how my baseband upgraded. I gave my phone to my sister so he could hacktivate it, next minute I know my BB is 6.15. I asked her how it happened and wtf it actually was and she didn’t know either.

I have a 3GS and my WiFi lasts about half an hour or less then cuts out for a few minutes, then kicks itself back up again. It’s extremely irritating I hope the downgrade works.

  18. jason says:

att will unlock almost every old 3gs out there right free of charge then you downgrade BB through redsnow then restore using itunes then no more problems unlocked 3gs with all the features

    • MMakoto says:

so i thought att unlocked my 3gs cuz i received the email from them that my phone is eligible for unlock. restored via itunes and it could not activate my phone even if i put my att sim card in. i requested att to unlock it again and was told it’s eligible, so my question is, if att really unlocked my 3gs, and when i restore through itunes-would i be able to activate it? or do i still need to wait for this baseband downgrade to work? btw, anybody know what BB it is for 3gs users on 5.1.1?
