I’ve followed these steps but now my phone is asking for activation. It’s locked to AT&T (US) and I’m in the uk.
Redsnow or Absinthe both ask me to activate it before jailbreaking.
It’s an iphone 4s.
(for the unlocking part, I have a GEVEY)
What should I do?

I did it this way, and I still get the 1601 Error. I’ve been switching through various error codes, using and without using tinyumbrella. I can’t seem to undo my jailbreak and update the iOS. I’m stuck with iOS 4.2!!!

Error 1601 stuck at ipad preparing for restore…
You should create a backup for your iPhone files. This is because if you restore to factory settings, everything will be lost.
My speaker in my iphone 4 suddenly went the other day i think its due to me recently updating to IOS6 software. Anyway i have tried holding down the lock and home button together, i tried cleaning both the charging port and the headphones dock(sound plays perfectly in headphones) and removed dirt and everything. Followed the tips of the q tip and knife also the business card and nothing has worked. Its like as if i have it connected to a docking station all the time but i never had. Ive just finished restoring my iphone and that hasnt worked either. Can anyone else help me???
