We have already posted the links to download this major release.

However, we are receiving some complains that users are having Wi-Fi problems after updating to iOS 6. But most of the readers are satisfied with perfectly working Wi-Fi. This problem was due to a faulty Apple page which was fixed shortly after the release of iOS 6.

How to Fix Wi-Fi problem after iOS 6 upgrade

According to an iOS developer, Steve Streza, the problem was due to “captive network detection page 404ing” in iOS6. In other words, Apple iDevices are programmed in such a way that they will ping a test URL while connecting to the Wi-Fi. This is just to check if the Wi-Fi Network is protected by a “captive portal.” This test page was down yesterday, which caused this problem.

According to Errata Security:

“When an Apple iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) connects to a WiFi network, the first thing it does is make a request to the URL http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html.

The purpose of this request is to discover if there is a “captive portal” in the way. A captive portal is when, after connecting to the WiFi, any web request you makes gets redirected to a login/ToS page. In order to continue, you must either login with a username/password (or sign up, then login), and/or access the Terms of Service.”

So, it should automatically resolve your problem just after the update, however, if you are unlucky and are still having the same problem, you can follow the simple steps to fix this:

How to Fix Wi-Fi problem after iOS 6 upgrade :

  • Go to setting and tap on Wi-Fi and Turn it “On” and then “Off”
  • The second way is to set up the device’s HTTP Proxy to Auto: Go to “Settings” > “Wi-Fi” > Arrow Next to your Wi-Fi Network > scroll down and set it to auto.

I recently upgraded to an iPhone 4s and lost wifi. I started searching the web for a solution and have finally found one!!!!! I simply went to settings>general>reset>reset network settings. This solved it! I wanted to see what changes had been made if any, so I reopened Settings>wi-fi>blue arrow bubble for intended connection…The IP address now was a DHCP and all the values underneath were showing (all were missing before). Now the wifi icon shows up and I am successfully able to connect!!!

  2. tired all possible solution but still wifi option is hide. unable to on off

So my brother tried to do his first jailbreak on my iPod, but he put a jank version if instalus(sp?) on it and now it refuses to connect to my school’s wifi. I’ve tried everything and nothing worked, and it seems the only way to fix it is to reformat it. But I’m scared to reformat it because I don’t want anything wrong to happen again. Help please, I’m getting frustrated.

applied the “auto” change to the wifi connection settings. and also had to change the WIFI channel manually to one that was not being used. BOTH CHANGES REQUIRED to get wifi running on 4S iphone with 6.1

am running both a 2.5ghz and a 5ghz network out of the same apple airport extreme router. looks like everyone has five issues with wifi fighting together. 1) 5ghz or 2.5ghz wifi. 2). wpa2 security 3) the AUTO setting for HTTPproxy in wifi settings. 4) chanels in router fighting with other channels of neighbors routers. 5) jumping from 3G to WIFI with correct connection.
