iOS 6 Poor Battery life for iPhone 4 and 4S users
iOS 6 Poor Battery life for iPhone 4 and 4S users - The release of the iOS 6 has seen mixed responses. In some areas, it is an absolute pleasure while in others, users are really unsatisfied. Another problem has sprung up which was common iOS 5, excessive battery drain.
Using the iPhone 4S, you will notice that it will lose battery even when you have it on standby mode. In addition, it feels quite warm when playing background apps. Although a number of people have put the blame on the Apple Maps App, this does not seem to be the problem as some users have not even used the maps app once and still they experience a similar problem.
iOS 6 Poor Battery life for iPhone 4 and 4S users
The Apple discussion board thread has over 200 entries discussing this flaw. There are even some rare solutions but still it’s a problem that does not have a solid fix.
Here are some comments from the Apple Support Boards:
Only1jb: “Used my 4S the same as every other work day. Usually come home with about 60 percent. Came home today with 17 percent.”
John Smith 1882: “100 percent at 8am this morning when I took it off the charger. 0 percent within four hours. No calls. No GPS, no Internet use, but battery was dropping one percent every few minutes. I turned off location services, no change.”
LocalBus: “Thinking of switching back to 5.1.1 now!! 9am to 10:30am the battery drain is 100 percent to 52 percent!!!!! Something is very wrong.”
These are dozens of concerns and the suggestions offered include turning off location services, maps, passbook, etc. but still not every ones problems are solved with these suggestions. This problem is being discussed on other forums as well, MacRumors forums has a user named DArsenault who said:
“Battery life on the 4 is terrible. Since I’ve upgraded my phone drains rapidly when it’s not even in use. My phone dropped from 63 percent to 30 percent in about an hour of just sitting on my desk unused.”
There are some users who have not experienced battery drain issues but since there are a number of users who have, it is high time that Apple came up with a fix. We expect some solutions to be out soon. Are you experiencing battery drainage on iOS 6? Feel free to comment.

I had REALLY BAD Battery Drain after updating, It would drop 10 percent an hour … not even using it, and it would drop 15 percent just from checking FB, Twitter, and Instagram. The easy pain in ass fix was restore it, and set up as new, once I did that, it was WAY better than it was on iOS5 let alone iOS6!!!
yah Mang!.. It all makes sense now…
Since the upgrade my battery is lasting longer. I used to come home with a battery at about 30ish %. Now I am coming home to 40% give or take. I did however restore my phone first then synced everything to the phone again afterwards.
Since I updated my 4S with iOS 6 I have had issues with power drainage. I have tried everything to reduce the amount of apps running in the background. Apple needs to figure out something fast because this is frustrating………
Same with me, ios 6 has just sucked my phone out,
Lucky me i had saved my blobs, so back to ios 5 the battery
Seems to be happy again on my iphone 4, but same with my friend
And her new iPhone, poor Apple, few years on Top,
now they already flop…………
I solve my 4S battery probleme when a disable safari and reboot the phone, it’s a bookmak sync problem with icloud.
Had same problem last year when upgrading to iOS 5. just backed up and synced my phone into iTunes and the battery draining was gone. same result this year for iOS 6. reply if this worked for you!
I have spent forty percent of the batteries in an hour of playing, and it could also be listening. The failure of the entire line. Same problem like others…
Just in the time I have read this article and have posted this message… I started with 25% and am now down to 18% and my iPhone 4S is hot. I have location services off. I’ve turned off all the push notifications I truly do not need or use … Have a handful on…17% now. And the battery keeps draining. Have to charge it in the middle of the day and then again at night and when I wake in the morning as it won’t hold the charge over night at all, even sitting in the charger! Need a fix and fast!
It looks like the icloud service backup that make my 4s battery run out. I just disabled everything. Let see..
anybody tried to compare what are the processes running in the background for ios5 and ios6?
reading all these comments makes me fucking scared to upgrade from 5.1.1. further more im using a gevey ultra sim for my unlocking purpose and i dont know if it will unlock ios 6. i think i prefer to be safe than sorry. im hearing and seeing too much complaint about ios 6. I really dont want to be the next person complaining.
Did someone flip a switch? I am still running IOS 5.1.1 on my 4s and had great battery life up until 2 days ago. I haven’t made any changes to it, but all of the sudden my battery last 4 hours – provided I don’t make any calls. I have resorted to keeping it plugged in while I make/answer calls to insure the battery lasts through a 10 minute conversation. What’s odd is Apple replaced my previous 4s after 2 months because of the same issue. What’s really odd is I have had this replacement phone for 2 months. I am going to cross my fingers that restoring it and updating it to the lastest IOS will resolve the issue – but if past history is any indicator I’ll be on phone #3 within a few days.
since i updated my iphone 4 to ios 6 i had issues with my charger sometime it wont charge the phone i tried alot different charges sometimes works sometimes not !!!!!
