iPhone 5 Untethered Jailbreak On iOS 6 and 6.0.1 State - Nearly a quarter of a year has passed by and we still haven’t seen a jailbreak for the new (is it new anymore?) iPhone 5. In September, we saw the arrival of Apple’s sixth generation iPhone, which was unique in the sense that Apple had finally ditched the 3.5 inch display for a bigger 4-inch retina display. But like each annual release, Apple ramped up the security in its newest iPhone and also its newest OS, iOS 6 and jailbreak developers have been unable to crack it. Even a tethered jailbreak is far from being available but here we are, waiting and hoping that developers would somehow work it out. Well, here is all we know as of now. iPhone 5 Untethered Jailbreak On iOS 6 and 6.0.1 State
Over the time, we have seen quite a few fake developers trying to get some attention by saying that they have developed jailbreaks for iOS but none of them have proved true. While as far as real jailbreak devs are concerned, we have received continuous updates from David Wang, more commonly known as @planetbeing on Twitter who seemed to have done the most of the work of exploiting the iPhone 5’s and is now joining them up to develop a legitimate jailbreak.
Though don’t except it to be released anytime soon as testing the jailbreak would take a chunky lot of time too. One thing to note is that if you are currently running on iOS 6 or iOS 6.0.1, then it is highly recommended that you don’t update to iOS 6.0.2(available only for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini) as it might be harder to crack.
While upgrading to the upcoming iOS 6.1 is absolutely negligible if you want a jailbreak soon as the next big update for iOS has much better security measures that would prevent the iOS 6 jailbreak to function on it.
In the meanwhile, you can keep checking on our site to see if a working jailbreak is available and we will let you know as soon as we get news of one.
