Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 On iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4G - iOS 6.0.1 firmware has been released by Apple today with many improvements and fixed bugs, A4 jailbreakers (iPhone 4, 3GS iPod 4G ) who are planning to update their devices to iOS 6.0.1 should take care that only the tethered jailbreak available for A4 devices other wise the A5 jailbreakers who are planning to update to iOS 6.0.1 it’s better to stay way from the update as there is no jailbreak available till now.
Dev team also have updated Redsn0w to version 0.9.15b3 this update doesn’t add support for iOS 6.0.1 firmware it’s only to fix bugs found on the latest version, but you can still point at the already supported iOS 6 firmware and successfully jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 on A4 devices only.
Supported devices
- iPhone 4.
- iPhone 3GS.
- iPod touch 4th generation.
How To Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 On iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G
Step 1: Put your device in DFU mode
- Hold down power button and home button both at the same time for 10 seconds
- After the 10 seconds release the power button and still pressing on the home button for another 10 seconds
Step 2: Connect your device to your computer.
Step 3: . Open RedSn0w folder after extracting it, and right click on redsn0w file and click “Run as administrator”
Step 4: Now you have to Click on Extras button
Note: Make sure that Redsn0w detects your device.
Step 5: Then Select IPSW button , and choose your iOS 6.0 firmware for your device.
Step 6: Your device should inform you that “The following build was identified”
Step 7: Then Go back to the “RedSn0w” welcome page and click Jailbreak button then Redsn0w will start processing.
Step 8: Now check on “install Cydia” as on the screen below and then click “Next” your Redsn0w will start jailbreaking.
Step 9: Once the jailbreak is complete you have to know that this jailbreak is tethered jailbreak so you have to place your device into DFU mode.
Step 10: Go back to the Redsn0w main page and click “Extra” button then click “Just boot”
Step 11: After the device reboots, you will see Cydia on the Home screen.

Open red snow as admin.then select extras >select Ipsw .now you have to select the downloaded ios6 Ipsw not iOS 6.0.1ipsw.then go back and select jailbreak. then everything goes fine. Here u select iOS 6 Ipsw because redsnow is still incompatible with ios6.0.1.
how do i open as an administrator
On windows u right click and u see run as administrator
how do you run as admin on a mac?

I am using ipod touch 4th generation. The jaibreaking part worked out perfectly, but after the process of the “Just Boot”, my ipod hangs with a blank,dim lighted screen, How to solve this problem?
try this, go back to select Ipws then try just boot in dfu mode.
when i select ipsw it says that this version of redsn0w not support by this version of redsnow what should i do ? i have the newest redsnow 15b3

I jailbroke my ipod 4g ios 6 with this and appsync doesn’t work. Keeps saying invalid ipa when I try to install a file. I’ve installed and uninstalled with no success. Any ideas?
i already jailbroken mine and have cydia , but when i download some things and after restarting it , cydia and instalous just crash , so i go back to redsnow (admin) pick the ispw and reboot it , and when its finishing the reboot it says the missing keys.plist data ~~
any ideas of how to fix that? i just want to get whatsapp for my ipod :/
This is how I upgraded and jailbroke my iPhone 3GS iOS 4.1 to 6.0.1 without upgrading baseband:
1. I downloaded IOS 6.0.1 for iphone 3gs – (iPhone2,1_6.0.1_10A523_Restore IPSW)
2. I downloaded sn0wbreeze-v2.9.7, set up compatibility to XP SP3, and ran as administrator.
3. I picked my original (not custom) IPSW and picked Baseband Preservation Mode.
4. Snowbreeze created a custom IPSW.
5. Then enter PWD mode in snowbreeze.
6. I opened iTunes, clicked shift and restore, picked the custom IPSW and restored to ios 6.0.1 without any errors.
7. When the phone was restored I couldn’t pass the activation page.
8. To make it through activation – I downloaded original ios 6.0 for iphone 3gs (iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore IPSW) – because redsnow can only work with ios 6.0, but not ios 6.0.1 (but I restored to 6.0.1 , that’s the trick that worked).
9. I opened redsnow 0.9.15b3 (compatibility XP SP3, ran as administrator), I went to Extras -> Select IPSW and chose ios 6.0.
10. Then I went to Jaibreak, checked install Cydia and that’s it.
11. After it’s done when you turn on your cell phone, there will the activation page, but that’s ok, there is no need to have a sim card, it’s painless.
12. Now you have your phone working.
13. BTW I saved blobs on my computer for ios 4.1 for my iphone 3gs.
Hi, i got an iphone 3gs with a new bootrom (redsnow says it has), and i’m unable to jailbreak it. i’m following the instructions and i’m always prompted to perform a clean turn off then retry redsnow again. i’m using red snow 9.15b3… can anyone help me on this?

When i try to do as said, installing the firmware, choosing the firmware i downloaded in Redsn0w, and then press jailbreak, putting the phone in DFU Mode, and then the process starts. But then all of a sudden it stops and says “Exploit failed”
What shall i do?

i installed the jailbreak stuff but when i tried to “just boot” to start tethered my ipod wont reboot. redsnow says it waiting for it to reboot but its not how long does it take?
im stuck at the reboot, how long does this take or has it frozen????
