Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 On iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4G

Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 On iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4G - iOS 6.0.1 firmware has been released by Apple today with many improvements and fixed bugs, A4 jailbreakers (iPhone 4, 3GS iPod 4G ) who are planning to update their devices to iOS 6.0.1 should take care that only the tethered jailbreak available for A4 devices other wise the A5 jailbreakers who are planning to update to iOS 6.0.1 it’s better to stay way from the update as there is no jailbreak available till now.

Dev team also have updated Redsn0w to version 0.9.15b3 this update doesn’t add support for iOS 6.0.1 firmware it’s only to fix bugs found on the latest version, but you can still point at the already supported iOS 6 firmware and successfully jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 on A4 devices only.

I had 3Gs jailbroken with iOS 4.1, which was working fine. Tried upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 by:

    1. Restore to ‘iPhone2,1_6.0.1_10A523_Restore’ using iTune 10.7
    2. Choosing the ‘iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore’ IPSW, jailbreak using ‘redsn0w_win_0.9.15b3′.
    3. Again using ‘iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore’ did just boot tethered.
    4. Cydia shows 6.0.1

No error with above steps, but didn’t get service.

Then based on the suggestion, I tired:

    5. Installed Ultrasn0w Fixer.

    Still no luck, then tried:

    6. Jailbreak again to Downgrade to iPad Baseband.
    7. Using ‘iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore’ did just boot tethered.
    8. Re-install Ultrasn0w Fixer.

    Same.. No service still..

    Please help

  5. Slash says:

Hi, I am using the brand new iPod Touch 4G and try to jail break the device. When I am rebooting, the system shows:

“Missing Keys.plist data for this build”
    Device: iPod Touch 4G
    ECID: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Build: iPod4,1_6.0.1_10A523

I download the firmware iPod4,1_6.0_10A403 from here and I am sure I am using the 6.0 in stead of 6.0.1 to jail break.

I cannot reboot that means I cannot use it. Can you help me to solve the problem? Thanks in advance!

Oh, I find the solution! It’s alright now!

For everyone with the MISSING KEYS.PLIST ERROR
          1. Exit redsn0w and turn off your phone and unplug it
          2. Plug your phone back in and then enter DFU mode without opening redsn0w yet. DFU=(3 sec lock button, 10 sec home and lock button, 15 second just home button).
          3. Once in DFU mode, find redsn0w on your computer, right click on it and take ownership/run as administrator!
          4. Open redsn0w, go to Extras>>Select IPSW>> select the 6.0 IPSW.
          5. Go back, Jailbreak! let it do its thing and install cydia and then once the jailbreak is done and phone booted on, turn off your phone.
          6. Exit redsn0w, unplug your device, plug it back in and put the phone into DFU mode! Open redsn0w!
          7. In redsn0w go to extras>>select IPSW (6.0).
          8. Extras>>Just Boot>> This is the only fix for the missing keys.plist error!!

Just an addition to any confusion as to why the just boot wont work after a successful jailbreak and lets say you install a tweak which require you to boot like winterboard! You must always go back and select the 6.0 ipsw every time you Just Boot because it will throw that ugly missing keys.plist error at you ,if not that, it just wont successfully just boot unless selected ipsw is 6.0!

I have an iPhone 4 with 6.0.1 i just used RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 and iPhone3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore file. It seemed like the Jailbreak all went well. I saw the Pineapple and “installing bundles” message complete then said rebooting. When the iphone 4 rebooted. i dont have Cydia… What went wrong… or did i miss a step.. please and thanks.

    • jester-plot says:

You just did an tethered jailbreak, that’s mean that every time you turn off your iphone or the battery drain out you have to open redsnow>extras>just boot to recover your cydia, that’s the meaning of Tethered. We’re expecting the untethered release to avoid this.

      • Tmel4198 says:

You have to select the 6.0 IPSW by going to redsn0w>extras>Select IPSW

Then go back and “Just Boot”

you must do this everytime you reboot your phone because it is a tethered jailbreak

  20. Frustrated says:

To follow your instructions step by step has no worth. How can you find the IPSW files? It is not included in this “step by step” instruction. There are no straight forward answer to find here. In the video you also find it after pressing “Select IPSW”. But where are these files and where can I find them? The only thing happening is that the program let me to choose where the location of the files are… but where are they? This means I am stuck and can not go further. Please include this IPSW step in your guide if you want to make it “step by step”.

    • advocatus says:

Hi. I have exactly the same problem. My windows 7 “offers” only to find IPSW files somwhere in my comp. But I have no idea where to find them. On all the videos and instructions both IPSW files are automatically offered for choosing, but this doesn´t work on my comp.

    • Tmel4198 says:

you download the 6.0 IPSW from this website for your specific iDevice. the 6.0 IPSW is used to jailbreak 6.0.1

      do not download 6.0.1 IPSW

redsn0w doesnt support 6.0.1 yet so you use the 6.0 IPSW to jailbreak. Your phone will still be on iOS 6.0.1

      • advocatus says:

6.0 IPSW = IOS 6 firmware? If I uderstand it correctly I should “downgrade” my new Ipad (already IOS 6.0.1 installed) to IOS 6 and then redsnOw works? Is there any risk to damage Ipad by downgrading? thanks a lot

        • Tmel4198 says:

what? you need to be on 6.0.1 to jailbreak it…you just use the 6.0 IPSW and not the 6.0.1, but your iDevice will stay on 6.0.1

this is not for ipads anyways read the title

I’ve jailbroken my iPhone 4 a couple times but this time something went awfully wrong. I jail broke my phone exactly like in the descriptions with redsnow and the iOS 6.0 ipws and I saw the pineapple and rebooted……the whole procedure….well, now I still don’t have cydia on my phone and it is restarting itself on and on and on and on again. and that makes it even impossible to set it back with iTunes.
    please help, pleeaase

    • Tmel4198 says:

Hello, this worked for me because i have been in the same situation before.

1st. you have to hard reset your iPhone by holing the power and home button for 10 seconds, but because the reboot state your phone is in you must hold for an additional 5 seconds so it will shut off twice.

2nd. Once it is fully off and not turning on by itself. hit the power button and do another 10 second power and home button hard reset but once it turns off let go of the power button and keep holding the home button to put the iPhone into recovery mode, you will see>(iTunes symbol with the cable)

3rd. Restore your iPhone using iTunes

4th. Start from scratch and begin the jailbreak process over again but be careful to follow ever step precisely

  27. Marshall says:

I done everything but fail. I did’t get pineapple moving application please help

  28. Harry says:

I can’t use redsnow 0.9.15b3 in iPod4,1_6.0.1_10A523_Restore, redsnow said “ipsw not supprted”. So I jailbreak with snowbreeze 2.9.7 and everything working flawlessly.

  29. Bryan Wright says:

The “Just Boot” will finish and the pineapple will show on my screen, but once that disappears, the Apple comes up and doesn’t finish rebooting. Any tips on what to do?

    • Tmel4198 says:

1st. unplug iphone and Hard reset it by holding lock/power button and home button at the same time for 10 seconds or until you see the screen shut off!

2nd. without turning it back on, enter DFU mode without the phone plugged in! which is:

      * 3 second power button!

      * 10 seconds home and power button (once you see the screen power off you know you have 3.5 seconds left)!

      * 15 seconds just home button!

3rd. Open redsn0w and click just boot
4th. Now plug phone in and it will auto start the Just Boot process!

If this does not work it means the jailbreak failed and your phone is in a sort of mobile substrate/crashed phase so you must restore and start over :/

    Hi,

I’m trying to jailbreak my unlocked iPhone 4 running 6.0.1 firmware. I have the 6.0 firmware selected in extras, the iPhone is in DFU mode, I start the Jailbreak and it gets past the limera1n stage and to the upload stage and then stops and says Exploit failed, am I missing something? I’ve tried all possible types of firmware so I know it cannot be that. Thanks in advance

    • Tmel4198 says:

Exploit failed happens because you didnt follow step 3 of DFU mode correctly, you hold the home button even when the screen changes till you see “uploading first stage”…its 15 seconds, dont let go when it beggins jailbreaking at 8 seconds

      • tom says:

I’ve tried putting the iPhone into DFU mode at all different stages of the process, before I run Redsnow, the initial screen of redsnow, just before I click the Jailbreak icon, after I click the Jailbreak icon etc. Yet I still get the same result. Ive restored the iPhone to a fresh 6.0.1 firmware and tried all of the above, to get the same result. Any help is much appreciated

        • Tmel4198 says:

1.use a different USB port on your computer.
2.make sure you have latest redsn0w.
3.use USB 2.0 drive and not 3.0, make sure your USB drivers are updated.
4.when following the last step of the DFU process you must keep holding the home button down even when the screen changes.
5.keep holding the home button until you see “uploading first stage” or “uploading second stage” during the jailbreak process

    Hello there
I am having Iphone 3GS and i upgraded to IOS 6.0.1 (Tethered). The phone and IOS is working fine but sometimes i loses signals even for hours and that happens mostly in the day from 8 am till 3 PM. Whereas in the evening or night, the signals are back, however sometimes also get interrupted in between. My Baseband is 6.15.00. Can anyone please advice me as i am in great frustration thus losing my signals at work all day long.

P.S this problem was also encountered in IOS 5.1.1

    • Tmel4198 says:

you have a 3GS, those phones are old and out of date. signal has nothing to do with software. it is most likely a hardware problem

      • Malik says:

Well the signals were working fine a month back. and neither i dropped set nor tempered with it. So there doesn’t seem any hardware issue. and if there was any, the signals would’ve gone permanently, not for short period of time.

not exactly sure whats going on with my phone, it’s my first time jailbreaking anything. But i’ve done everything step by step, downloaded redsn0w, got the firmware for ios 6..everything takes but whenever i’m the the matrix mode it starts working perfectly for a minute, then i get a LOOONG row of please waits..stays on my screen for forever, no pineapple guy nothing..it just booted right back to my lock screen. I’ve restored my phone, tried to read forums on EVERYTHING. And i STILL cannot find what the problem is! PLEASE HELP ME! I have a Iphone 4..hopefully SOMEONE can help me, i’ve been messing around with this crap for almost 2 days, it’s getting tiring! Thanks so much :)

I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve restored iOS 6.0.1 about 10 times and tried to jailbreak over and over again but it keeps getting stuck at the ‘please wait…’ screen. Anyone have any ideas?!

      Thanks,

      Sabs

        Hi Marwan
It looks like I have exactly the same issue as you had, but I was not able to fix it yet. The only hint I find everywhere is booting up using the “Just Boot” function, but that doesn’t fix it for me.
Could you maybe share how you were able to fix the problem?
        Thanks
        jan

        • Jan says:

A full restore fixed it for me – before this I just updated an already jailbroken iOS 5 to iOS 6, which didn’t seem to work.
Now the untethered Jailbreak on my 3GS with old bootrom is running fine :)

Hi! I followed everything but I can’t find the Cydia on the homescreen.

I think I installed it correctly because I have the same screenshot shown on your tutorial and everything goes well until the last part. Where can I find the cydia?

    Thanks!

    • Jan says:

      Hi

If you have any other device than a 3GS with old bootrom: Download redsn0w 0.9.15b1 (not b3) and start your phone using the “Just Boot” option found under extras.

If Cydia still doesn’t show up or you are on a 3GS old bootrom, you probably upgraded from an already jailbroken iOS 5 with Cydia on there. Try a full restore, that should fix it.

      Cheers
      Jan
