Hi, I have iPod Touch 4G and the first time I did the jailbreak in DFU it worked fine, but every time I’m in DFU and I press “just boot”, Windows decides my iPod is plugged in in the middle of booting and it cancels. What do I do?

  15. anonymous says:

can this step use on ipad2 ?

  16. Tiomilo says:

remember there is a tethered JB needs “boot tethered”
for those who get missing keys.plisk there is a solution
before boot the device (tethered) select IPSW 6.0 not 6.0.1
and for those who get “exploit fail” don’t follow the DFU instructions on redsn0w put manually in DFU before click next
press power and home button 10 sec then release power but hold home 15 more secs, redsn0w will automated detect iPhone in DFU

  19. gag says:

    what’s wrong with tethered jailbreak?

  20. john doe says:

My 4th gen ipod doesn’t makes the second reboot and the redsnow screen says “waiting for reboot” for about an hour. What could be wrong with my configuration?

  21. Tmel4198 says:

are you talking about when putting it into DFU mode before the jailbreak starts? If so, when the last part of DFU process has you hold your home button for 15 seconds but then it starts to jailbreak when the time hits 8 sec, keep holding it for the full 15 seconds so that it gets to the “uploading 1st stage” and not get stuck at waiting for reboot.. My instructions may be off since I am not looking at redsn0w as i type

  22. Tmel4198 says:

you have to go back and select the 6.0 IPSW in extras and then use Just Boot..if you do not select the IPSW it will throw you that error

  23. Tmel4198 says:

For everyone with the MISSING KEYS.PLIST ERROR
    1. Exit redsn0w and turn off your phone and unplug it
    2. Plug your phone back in and then enter DFU mode without opening redsn0w yet. DFU=(3 sec lock button, 10 sec home and lock button, 15 second just home button).
    3. Once in DFU mode, find redsn0w on your computer, right click on it and take ownership/run as administrator!
    4. Open redsn0w, go to Extras>>Select IPSW>> select the 6.0 IPSW.
    5. Go back, Jailbreak! let it do its thing and install cydia and then once the jailbreak is done and phone booted on, turn off your phone.
    6. Exit redsn0w, unplug your device, plug it back in and put the phone into DFU mode! Open redsn0w!
    7. In redsn0w go to extras>>select IPSW (6.0).
    8. Extras>>Just Boot>> This is the only fix for the missing keys.plist error!!

Just an addition to any confusion as to why the just boot wont work after a successful jailbreak and lets say you install a tweak which require you to boot like winterboard! You must always go back and select the 6.0 ipsw every time you Just Boot because it will throw that ugly missing keys.plist error at you ,if not that, it just wont successfully just boot unless selected ipsw is 6.0

  24. Tmel4198 says:

Actually just make sure you are holding down the home button for the full 15 seconds even though the screen changes at 8 seconds when following the enter DFU mode screen

  25. Jon R. says:

I did the Jailbreak and everything went fine as far as jailbreaking it but my phone then said No Service. It never came back and I had to Restore my iphone 4 with iTunes. Can you tell me what I did wrong?

  26. Joaquin says:

    I have a problem on a Iphone 3GS, Wifi, Bluetooth, doesn’t work

  27. carrie says:

i,too, was getting the “missing keys.plist” error but i got past that tho.it seemed evrything’s goin alright until i get to the end of the process and realize that i still dont have Cydia in my 3gs.i did the process a few times already but still, nada! what am i doing wrong? it would always seem like i never JB’d the phone after the process even if it seemed like it did.

  28. Khin says:

Extras>>Select IPSW>> select the 6.0 IPSW , when i press select IPSW, it go to my document folder, then how to find and select the 6.0 IPSW?

  29. Dybbuk says:

I have a serious problem: when I start to find the ipsw file in browser, there is no ipsw file under iOS folder!!!! Where the hell is the ipsw file???? I downloaded much more iOS but none of them contained ipsw file!!! How this jailbreak works then????????

  32. kali4nia says:

I got everything to work accordingly, but when I put my sim card in, it still says “No Service”. Any ideas?

  33. Steve says:

    Tommorow at 3:45pm Eastern Time……..smh

  34. Steve says:

Obviously, if it isnt in your document folder then browse to whatever folder you originally downloaded the IPSW file into and then click on it.

Common sense, if you don’t even know how to find the file you downloaded then you shouldn’t be Jailbreaking your phone…..smh

  35. Steve says:

Enter DFU mode without it being plugged in, then click “just boot” and then plug in your phone (which is already in DFU mode).

  36. Steve says:

Does the title say that it will work on it? Then no.

  37. Steve says:

We weren’t there when you did it, and without you explaining in detail what you did, how would we know what you did wrong??

  38. Steve says:

    Your an idiot.

  39. Steve says:

How the hell is anyone supposed to help you when you didn’t even explain wha you actually did to fuck it up in the first place??

  40. Steve says:

    Pay your bill.

  41. Steve says:

    It’s tethered, that’s what’s wrong.

  42. Steve says:

That’s what happens when stupid people don’t read, and then complain about it.

  43. Steve says:

WTF are you saying? Use actual sentences.

  44. Steve says:

WTF are you saying? Learn how to make sentences that actually make sense, and then try again. I can’t believe you people own SMART phones, but are dumb as hell. Ironic huh?

  45. Steve says:

    Aren’t you special?

  46. Steve says:

  47. Steve says:

Great, now go play in traffic.

  48. Steve says:

You should stop being cheap and upgrade to a new phone…..the iPhone 4 is actually free now.

  49. kali4nia says:

That wasn’t it! After a doing some researches, there are two extra steps need to be done, installing the ultrasnOw fixer v.1.0 and ultrasn0w v.1.2.7 via Cydia. After that I reinserted the sim card and it works.

  57. joek says:

what ipsw did your use i had the shsh blob error on both my new iphone 4 and ive been trying everything today to jailbreak these and cannot get redsn0w b1 b2 or b3 to install and every time i specify a ipsw it just doesnt let me use the ipsw or locks up the redsn0w

  58. erica says:

So I followed all the directions on here and everything went smoothly until I got to a part in the process which said I had missing keys. I found a post to the right of the page that said “how to fix missing keys error while jailbreaking” so I clicked on it, downloaded the fileware from a website that the comments had suggested and followed the directions. Downloaded it, opened redsn0w, click extras, clicked select IPSW, found the link, double clicked on it, and it said that it wasn’t supported by that version of redsn0w. I tried it on both the newer and older version, and tried THREE different fileware downloads! What does it mean?!?! Please help, I really wanna jailbreak my iPhone!

  59. I just want to say I am new to weblog and actually savored your blog. Most likely I’m likely to bookmark your blog post . You really have beneficial well written articles. Bless you for sharing with us your webpage.

  60. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any techniques to help protect against content from being ripped off? I’d certainly appreciate it.

I was curious if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
