However, earlier today, we heard something official from a very famous weblog Reuters, who has interviewed the Sharp president Takashi Okuda. In his interview the Sharp president told that they will start shipping the display of next-gen iPhone in this month. According to the sources of Reuters, the next-gen iPhone will have 4.0 inch display and will use the in-cell technology. For all those who don’t know about in-cell technology, it is the latest display technology which eliminates the touch screen layer and will embed it in liquid crystal displays so the device will become thinner.

According to Reuters:

Shipments will start in August,” Sharp’s new president, Takashi Okuda, said at a press briefing in Tokyo on Thursday after the company released its latest quarterly earnings.

The iPhone screens will also be thinner than their previous incarnations with the use of so-called in-cell panels. The new technology embeds touch sensors into the liquid crystal display, eliminating the touch-screen layer found in current iPhones.

They folks at Reuters also said that Apple will announce the iPhone on 21st September and the phone will be released in the pre-Christmas season, in October. This report is contrary to the earlier reports of many blogs which claim that Apple will introduce the next-gen iPhone on 12th September and will release it on 21st September.
