Use redsn0w 0.9.14b1 to downgrade your baseband from 6.15 then unlock if you are on 5.16 baseband you can update to 6.15 then downgrade to baseband 5.13 to unlock with redsn0w

i had the same problem of unlocking fixed by the following
1 restore to 5.1.1
2 insert the original Sim to active the phone via iTunes
3 jailbreak by absinthe
4 open cydia and install ultrasn0w 1.2.7 respring
5 insert onther carrier Sim and it worked

hey i have iphone 3gs, baseband 6.15 and what i’ve done is that i used the latest redsnow 0.9.14 beta 2. then i ticked the “downgrade to ipad baseband”. it worked for me.
u have to use redsnow 0.9.14b1 after that go to cydia,source,repo666.ultrsnow.com after go to search ,ultrasnow n install ultrasnow 1.2.7

yea i had the same problem. i first jailbroke via greenpoison, found out i had the wrong baseband, then built a firmware with iPad baseband with snowbreeze, but ultrasnow still didnt work…help!
install a pre activated custom firmare with 6.15 baseband and jailbreak built in, then ultrasnow respring, turn 3g off, sorted
restore ur iphone 3gs 5.1.1 baseband 6.15 and jailbreak using redsnow 0.9.11.b4 and just install cydia and ipad baseband. after that install ultrasnow fixer and ultrasnow. after that u can get your signal back.

I ran jailbreak, it installed on my iphone but cydia disappeared from it completely. I tried a complete restore, but it sticks on refresh screen and I have to shut the phone off. I unlocked a friends phone on ios 5.1.1 b9206 with ultrasnow 1.2.7 worked fine initially but he’s saying now it will work fine for a few hours then drop signal and say searching for an hour…any ideas??

Download latest version of redsnow 0.9.14b2. Select stock Ipsw from Extras, then go back and hit jailbreak. While jailbreaking tick 1.Install cydia, 2. Downgrade baseband and run it. It worked for me

I’m a little confused, it seems some people were able to update and unlock with stock IPSW and others had to create custom? I’m not really sure where to go with this.
I have a 3GS (2010, week 48 if that matters) on 4.2.1 with BB 6.15. It’s currently jailbroken and unlocked but I’d like to update to 5.0 (or 5.1 if that’s possible at this point).

If you are having no signal issues, here’s what worked for me.
Model: IPHONE 3gs new bootrom
1) flash IOS 5.1.1. official firmware to your device using iTunes.
2) Use Redsnow 0.9.14.b1 with official IOS 5.1.1 IPSW (select extras then select manually specify IPSW from the redsnow menu)
3) choose back on the redsnow menu, put your phone into DFU mode jailbreak the device and choose these options: install cydia, upgrade with iPad baseband continue through the warnings.
4) once the jailbreak is complete, go to cydia install ultrasnow 2.5.7.
5) respring
6) go back into cydia then go to search, find mobile substrate and uninstall it. (this will also uninstall ultrasnow)
7) go back into cyida for the third time and reinstall the mobile substrate package.
restart
9 ) go back into cydia for the fourth time and reinstall ultrasnow.
10) respring
10) receive signal
Something is getting corupted during the baseband install which is causing you to have to reinstall the mobile substrate package and then ultasnow is able to unlock the phone.

Everyone with a 3gs with 6.15.00 or who has a baseband unlockable you need to uprade to the 6.15.00 if possible get the newest redsnow fro the blog team and it has a downgrade button to 5.13.xx or whatever it is but it is unlockable then jailbreak etc

You must go to the most recent version of redsnow. Go to extras. Choose custom ispw. Choose the update file. When that’s done plug in your phone and choose pwned DFU mode from the extras menu. MAKE SURE IT IS PWNED DFU MODE NOT NORMAL DFU MODE. Then go into itunes and choose restore. When clicking press the option key. or the shift key if on a pc. Then find your custom ispw file you made with redsnow and select it. ENJOY.
You then can jailbreak with redsnow or absthesin and unlock it with ultrasn0w.

i cant get pass startign procedure , i bought the phone 2nd hand and i dont know the carrier of it so i cant put the exact sim card and without it, itunes wont let me in.
