UnTethered Jailbreak 5.1.1 iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS Absinthe, After releasing of the Absinthe 2.0 for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak was released few minutes to jailbreak iDevices now we will show you how to UnTethered jailbreak iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS on iOS 5.1.1 step by step Guide using Absinthe v 2.0 on windows and MAC.
How to UnTethered Jailbreak 5.1.1 iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS Absinthe 2.0 on Windows and MAC:
Preparation
UnTethered Jailbreak 5.1.1 iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS Absinthe 2.0, Your iPhone MUST already be on 5.1.1 to start, and like all jailbreak activities you should ensure you have backed up recently!
Be aware, as things stand you cannot install 5.1.1 on your iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS IF Apple have closed the signing window on 5.1.1, even if you have saved SHSH Blobs. Make sure you get 5.1.1 installed before the window closes. For more details on SHSH Blobs.
Jailbreak Required :
- Download iOS 5.1.1 firmware
- Download Absinthe v2.0.4 for Windows, Mac and linux (Update)
Finally, before you start, consider how much data you currently have on your iPhone and the resources available on your PC. This jailbreak utilises a vulnerability in the Backup and Restore process. Therefore in order to complete the jailbreak Absinthe will perform a backup and restore of your iPhone’s data. This raises a couple of important issues…
If you have any problems running Absinthe, see the troubleshooting section at the end. Now, on to the jailbreak…
1. Unzip the download and launch the Absinthe file on your PC:
2. Ensure your iPhone is connected and detected, then press the “Jailbreak” button…
Absinthe will start to work it’s magic! Be advised, the jailbreak takes longer the more data you have on your iPhone 4s, 4, 3gs. Be Patient!
The jailbreaking wizards in the Dream Team pwned the iTunes sync, backup, and restore process to jailbreak your device…
You need to keep the faith and let it do it’s thang!
Hang on it there baby…
The last stage takes roughly as long as the first, so bear with it. It will appear as though nothing much is happening…
Finally, it will finish and tell you to unlock your device and press the jailbreak icon. DONT disconnect your Device yet!
After the program informed you that jailbreak is ‘Almost done’.
And you should notice that the Cydia icon installed .
That’s it! You are jailbroken untethered on 5.1.1 with an iPhone! Wasn’t that easy?
Troubleshooting Absinthe 2.0!
If the server is down and you get an Error establishing a database connection message then tap the Settings icon on your springboard and turn on VPN.
You will get a configuration error; however, after about a minute your device will reboot with Cydia on the Springboard!
First of all be patient and trust that it is working, particularly on the last stage! If you have lots of data on your device it WILL take a long time at each stage. DO NOT disconnect the iPhone from your PC until you see Cydia on your springboard (unless things have gone wrong of course).
If you get to the end and launching “Absinthe” does nothing, open Settings and turn ON the VPN setting which has been added to your device. Make sure you don’t disconnect the iPhone yet! It should reboot and Cydia will then be visible.
If this does not work, disconnect and start again. Absinthe will let you know it needs to recover the process. Let it do this. Then disconnect again and run the jailbreak again! But if your iPhone has lots of data on it, consider doing a clean restore as laid out in the preparation section this time!
If Absinthe crashes on OSX, first make sure you are running the jailbreak as an Administrator of the system. It seems as though folks have also had success by enabling the root user on OSX. To enable root, try the following:
- Open “System Preferences” and choose “Users & Groups”
- Click the padlock and authenticate to unlock the settings
- Choose “Login Options”
- Click “Join” (or “Edit”)
- Click “Open Directory Utility”
- Click the padlock and authenticate to unlock the settings (if required)
- From the “Edit” menu, choose “Enable Root User”
- Provide a password for the root user.
If Absinthe crashes on Windows, again, make sure you are running as an Administrator account.
Windows7 and Vista users should set the compatibility properties for the Absinthe executable by right clicking on the EXE file, choosing “properties”, switching to the Compatibility tab, and selecting “Windows XP (Service Pack 2)” and “Run this program as an administrator”.

i cant even open absinthe….every time i try to open it, it starts extracting files again. the actual program never opens…i followed the instructions to a t….please help

hAVING THE SAME ISSUE EXTRACING WINDOWS JUST COMES UP ANYONE NOW HOE TO FIX?
Its extracting the files you need to the same location as the first .exe you downloaded. Check the folder and open the absinthe.exe
let it extrwct it needs to for it to be able to run open the extracted file click on absnith this terminal looking thing should come up let it run the opethen there shud be a folder for absnithe open it click absnite and there you go!

Um, i rebooted my phone cause it froze and now the tweaks i install through cydia wont show up in my settings (i.e. five icon dock, fake operator). What do i do?
Also, none of my tweaks are working.
Should I restore my 4s to factory default before I jailbreak not sure if it would make a difference just wondering if anyone has any experience with that?
Also my pc is very old and slow still runs windows xp should I even bother tryin to do this ????
I was purchased locked AT&T iphone 4s in last month at USA. Recently on 31 July 2012 I was updated my locked Iphone 4s to the version IOS 5.1.1(9B206). After getting update I traied to Jailbreake with absinthe windows 2.0.4. In this process I saw that in my 4s devise shown the cydia app and I was pressed it to activate. After doing this I was inserted my India Local sim card to use it. But the devise shown that please activate sim with apple. showing the error name df 04 20. I dont know what happen to my devise. My devise was not jailbreaked. In this connection I was re-updated my Iphone 4s devise to factory setting with Itunes and kept in the box.

I too have locked iPhone 4s… rite now it’s jailbreaked but not unlocked… if I update my firmware to 5.1.1(it is currently on 5.0.1) will it get stuck at activation? I don’t have verizon sim with me to activate it.

I have jailbroken my iPhone 4s iOS 5.1.1 via Absinthe (mac) 2.1.0.4 and got Rocky Racoon 1.0.3 installed. The phone itself is jailbroken. Although i have downloaded some apps but every time trying to install the apps on my iphone via iTunes always gets this popup message: “The app is failed to install”. Can anyone help how to fix this? Try right clicking iTunes when you’re opening it and selecting ‘run as administrator’ – this should work for you.
The Absinth Mac version 2.04 does not work under Mac OS X Mountain Lion. The app closes itself, please fix this.
In Mac OS X Mountain Lion, run Absinthe 2.0.4 with the following command:

I need help, I was trying to jailbreak and unlock my verizon iohone 4s, the jail break appeared successful, however, the unlock messed up…it says ‘invalid sim’ – my phone does not move from this screen. I tried pluigging it into the pc and launching itunes, to see if i can get a factory reset, at least, but its not happening, itunes also says “invalid sim ‘message….so before i could have used my iphone via wifi, now i cannot do anything…is this the end for me here? please help….the jailbreak provider dsoes not have phone support, and they have not responded to my email as yet…

I’m trying to open Absinthe on Mountain Lion OS and nothing is happening – downloaded fine, and when I click on the icon, it asks to make sure I want to open the file. I click “open” and nothing happens. I tried it after enabling as a root user, too, as suggested above. Any suggestions?

I ran Absinthe fine. However, when I clicked Cydia, if said it was creating a file index. Then Most apps (not all) disappeared, including phone, mail, music… I have a paperweight. HELP!
I decided to try a SYNC with the APPS box checked. That brought back most of them EXCEPT Settings, Phone, Email, Music… i.e., the builtin apps. NOW WHAT?
I really needed the phone, so I did an iTunes “Restore” which wipes out everything and installs 5.1.1 and my backup. Back to normal but without jailbreak. If anyone can figure out what happened, I’d like to know so that I can try to jailbreak it again.

Its not detecting my device. I keep getting the greed out jailbreak button. Is it my computer? Was trying it on an IBM but it has windows xp. I’m stuck. I reset everything on my 3GS . I tried to restart the computer in safe mode and still not detecting I guess. Still greyed out button.

Thank you guys so much! I could not believe that the personal hotspot is blocked by a fee. The app worked perfectly. I first tried it on a old 3gs I had lying around with no service but hooked up to my wifi. I totally forgot to run in XP mode when I hooked up my 4 to it and it crashed, twice before I figured out what my dumb, stoned ass did wrong. Thanks for making this as easy as freaking possible.

I’m using it now for long time and it works fine. The problem is not the jailbreak itself. Most of the time its what you install on it after jailbreaking it!
I wish i could help you about your re-spiring issue but there is so many things that can make this happen.
I would say, if your not confortable enough with this, Don’t jailbreak!

I have tried the jailbreak but found that the Cydia app could not be opened. I tried to reset content and settings, then another jailbreak but it said that “Device already jailbroken! Detected untether.” but I don’t have the Cydia app. Troubled and would like a working jailbreak, in need of guidance.
As Apple usn’t signing 5.1.1 anymore, is there a way for me to get my iphone from 5.0.1 jailbroken to 5.1.1 so I can jailbreak it again?
