UnTethered Jailbreak 5.1.1 Using RedSn0w 0.9.12b2 [Update]
Few days ago the Dev Team released RedSn0w jailbreaking tool to support iOS 5.1.1 for A4 and A5 devices this Redsnow version 0.9.12b1 is to let the SAM unlockers, to restore their activation tickets, and other improvements.
Today a new version of Redsnow has been released dubbed RedSn0w 0.9.12b2 that will feature a new rocky-racoon injection option and an iBooks bug fix.

Update #1: Starting with version 0.9.12b2, redsn0w will now explicitly ask users with limera1n-able devices whether they want to inject rocky-racoon using the DFU ramdisk method or the backup/restore method (the ramdisk method is better for those with lots of media on their device that would create very large backups, and it’s required for those with unactivated iPhones). If you’ll always want to use limera1n, you can select that in the Preferences pane. It also fixes an iBooks issue on old-bootrom 3GS iPhones, and provides more useful error messages when things go wrong.
Note: If you are already running a jailbroken iOS 5.1.1 so there is no need to rejailbreak your device by using the the new version of Redsnow (RedSn0w 0.9.12b2 ) Unless you are facing some issues while using iBooks on iPhone 3GS.

you need to delete all content and settings. then it will work

Here’s the fix – just use Absinthe instead of Redsn0w. I used this and it worked first time…

Absinthe worked for me! I didnt even need to make a back-up. But the first time i tried it, I encountered am error and i actually thought I lost all my contacts and messages. I restarted my iphone and repeated the jailbreak process. it worked then.

I am also getting the “Service wouldn’t start (3986)” error, on an iPhone 4S… Anybody able to figure out what’s up with that?

Chill man. You took the risk when you decided to jailbreak it. Just google what ever problem you’re having. Most likely someone else is having the same problem.
