How to Untethered Jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS – iPod Touch 3G, 4G – iPad 1 on iOS 5.1.1 with new Redsnow 0.9.12b1.
Few hours ago iPhone Dev-Team released a new update of Redsnow (Redsnow 0.9.12b1) to support iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak we have showed you before the tutorial to jailbreak untethered iPhone 4S, iPad 2, new iPad (A5 devices) on iOS 5.1.1 using Redsnow 0.9.12b1 but now its time for the A4 untethered jailbreak on 5.1.1 using Redsnow 0.9.12b1 .
How to UnTethered Jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS iOS 5.1.1 using Redsnow 0.9.12b1 :
Step 1: Connect your A4 device to your computer (iPhone 4/ 3GS/3G – iPod Touch 3G/ 4G – iPad 1)
Step 2: Put Your device into DFU mode.
- Hold down power button and home button both at the same time for 10 seconds
- After the 10 seconds release the power button and still pressing on the home button for another 10 seconds
Step 3: Download RedSn0w 0.9.12b1
- Download Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 (Mac)
- Download Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 (Windows)
Step 4: Double click on the downloaded Redsnow file and extract it you will be informed by the screen below then press “Jailbreak” button.
Step 5: Choose “Install Cydia” from the options menu, then click “next”.
Step 6: After choosing “install Cydia” from the option menu your device will start jailbreaking and when your device finishes it will boot up without the need of any assistance….. That’s it….. .

could you please help me in downloading the redsnow installer. after downloading i got a zip file and if i try to open dat, am getin some error like the archive is unknnown or damage..
you need to download a program that will open it for you like winrar. google it, and you can find one that works best for you.
Yup you have to download that tool in order to open those zip file or rar files.

Hi again it’s John Bates again. Re booted my iPhone 4 and Cydia icon is there as you would expect to see it. When you tap on it nothing happens. Also cannot open Safari or e-mails.

It’s good that u tried Redsn0w but most of us used Absinthe 2.0.4, it never gives problems its fast and you don’t need to put your iPhone in DFU mode. Download it from this website, plug your iPhone and click jailbreak.:)

I got 5.1.1 iOS and 4.12.01 baseband and it was successful even I accidentally unplugged the cord to my pc. Next thing that I want to try is unlock my phone, is it possible? Also what will happen if I upgrade my iPhone’s iOS in the future?

Ran the whole jail break process on my ifone 3GS and at the end i was prompted that the jailbreak is tethered and i shall reboot everytime with redsnow

I tried both the DFU mode and non DFU mode. I tried the non DFU mode at least 5 times if not more and i could NEVER get it to work but i tried the DFU mode once and it worked right away. I would rather put my device in DFU mode and it actually work the not having to put it in DFU mode and it not working. Thanks!

Do you have to jailbreak on a completely new iPhone? My phone has apps/music/pictures on it and when I tried another method (absinth) it dindnt work and deleted my pictures, contacts and messed up some music. I have seen some other places that mention you need to restore, jailbreak, then restore from a backup to get all your stuff back on but that doesn’t seem right. Wouldn’t the backup delete Cydia and undo the jailbreak?

Cydia is blank and can’t open it. Safari and e-mail don’t open; photo’s are gon. Did the jailbreak fail?
1. you have to backup & restore from itunes factory firmware.
2. try redsnow again, this time it will work, cydia icon will appear, all will be well.

by mistaken i have delited my cydia app from my iphone4 5.1.1 baseband 04.11.08 i have tried all option of redsnow 0.9.12b1 absinthe 2.0.4 but no cydia app downloaded my phone says ur all ready jailbroken now help me how to re install cydia i dont have any cydia logo on my devise
